Teaser Tuesday (29)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Title: Always Emily
Release date:  April 8th 2014
Publisher: Chronicle Books

Emily and Charlotte Brontë are about as opposite as two sisters can be. Charlotte is practical and cautious; Emily is headstrong and imaginative. But they do have one thing in common: a love of writing. This shared passion will lead them to be two of the first published female novelists and authors of several enduring works of classic literature. But they’re not there yet. First, they have to figure out if there is a connection between a string of local burglaries, rumors that a neighbor’s death may not have been accidental, and the appearance on the moors of a mysterious and handsome stranger. The girls have a lot of knots to untangle—before someone else gets killed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Through stone? Are you certain?" Emily persisted. "Have you ever seen a soul go to heaven?"
"No one can see it, Emily," Charlotte said. "The ascension is invisible." . -Page 3

"Emily decided to leave Roe Head..." Miss Wooler began. "By way of a large oak tree."
Charlotte's mouth formed in an O but she couldn't manage to speak. -Page 20

Review: Prince of Shadows

Princeo of Shadows
Author:

Publication Date: February 4th 2014
~A copy was provided by Allison and Busby in exchange for an honest review~

------------------------------------------------------------------------
A thrilling retelling of the star-crossed tale of Romeo and Juliet, from the New York Times bestselling author of the Morganville Vampires series.
In the Houses of Montague and Capulet, there is only one goal: power. The boys are born to fight and die for honor and—if they survive—marry for influence and money, not love. The girls are assets, to be spent wisely. Their wishes are of no import. Their fates are written on the day they are born.

Benvolio Montague, cousin to Romeo, knows all this. He expects to die for his cousin, for his house, but a spark of rebellion still lives inside him. At night, he is the Prince of Shadows, the greatest thief in Verona—and he risks all as he steals from House Capulet. In doing so, he sets eyes on convent-bound Rosaline, and a terrible curse begins that will claim the lives of many in Verona…

…And will rewrite all their fates, forever.

Alright, I'm going to put it out there. I loved this so freaking much.
But, I also hated it so freaking much. Nothing to do with Rachel Caine, of course, because she's basically a YA God. Romeo and Juliet. It's just that while I used to love Romeo and Juliet when I was younger but the older I got (I'm 21 now, I know, I know. I'm so old guys) the more I despised it. Mainly because everyone focused on the love story. And everyone called it a love story.

It. Is. Not. A. Love. Story. It. Is. A. Tragedy.

All through high school everybody called it a love story. I-No.

No.

So, why the Fangirl Edition? Remember that proof I was talking about last week? Yup. Its here. And

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Three sisters with Big secrets.

Get ready to meet...SAVANNAH. COURTNEY. PEYTON.
The Diamond sisters never knew their father and never could catch a break. But their luck is about to change when they find out the secret identity of their long-lost dad – a billionaire Las Vegas hotel owner who wants them to come and live in a gorgeous penthouse suite.

Suddenly they have access to all that their dad’s money can provide, meaning it should be easier than ever to fit right in. But in a town full of secrets and illusions, fitting in is nothing compared with finding out the truth about their past.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Secret Diamond Sisters, on one hand I really liked you. You were something new, based in a setting I hadn't read before, so Vegas sounds like a ton of fun and I really liked a few of the characters, and I also wanted to put a few of  the rest of the characters in their place. Including two of the leads. One I just wanted to shake to wake her up to the obvious, but other than that, you were enjoyable. It kind of ran like a The Hills type of show, only in Vegas. Is there already a reality TV show set in Vegas? If there's not, there should be.

Waiting on Wednesday (#32)

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This kind of sounds like a witness protection read (which, I love) though without the witness protection part. Basically, I like books with people on the run.
OCTOBER, WHY KATHERINE TEGEN BOOKS?

Fifty years ago the Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society. He created the Hole where sinners are branded according to their sins and might survive a few years. At best. Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.

 Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.

Now every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.

The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.
