Red Eye Blog Tour: Q&A with Alex Bell

Welcome to my spot on the Red Eye Blog Tour, I have Alex Bell on the blog today with a Q&A, so a great thank you to Alex for answering my questions.

 Q&A Time!

1. What was the last book you read? And if you can remember, the first book you read?

The last book I read was The Executioner's Daughter by Jane Hardstaff. A brilliant, magical tale set in London during the time of Henry VIII. Highly recommended.

I don't think I can remember the first book I read. Possibly a Meg and Mog book? 

Review: Amity (Just Say No)

So, I'm keeping this short because 1) there's not much to say about it and 2) it's hard to even know what to say because not much actually went on.

If anyone asked describe Amity in one word it would be disturbing. Because if I said this was disappointing, my house might kill me. Firstly, let's talk about the false marketing shall we? It sounds like an Amityville Horror retelling, looks like an Amityville Horror retelling, the house is described like Amityville and It's even called Amity, so guess what it is?

I've certainly have been reading a few mindfuck books lately. But, they're the best kind, they keep you guessing, keep you reading, keep you wondering what the hell is going on and Unwept is no exception. I was so excited when I got approved for it because Tor Teen have published some of my favourite books *cough* Kendare Blake *cough*

Starting with a brutal introduction Unwept takes you on journey that has you following blindly, along with our main character Ellis, who wakes up on a train with no memory of how she got there. Or anything else. Or who she is. Or who anyone is. So when she arrived at this town called Gamin she is utterly confused. So was I.

I didn't really like Unbreakable that much, I thought it was okay, but wasn't that impressed with it. Though, I did like Supernatural gif-ing the hell out of my review, that was fun. So why do I want to read Unmarked? Blame Alicia @ Addicted Readers and her creepy gifs status updates when she was reading it. Nightmare, people. Nightmares.

I love horror, but I don't usually find it scary. I've read Anna Dressed in Blood, and while I do love it, I admit, I didn't find it that scary. Say Her Name beats it for the scare factor. Give me blood, gore, serial killers hacking off body pieces and It doesn't faze me at all, but give me psychological stuff like this and I'm screwed.  Say Her Name is my kind of Horror, one that actually scares me.

Two disappear. Only one comes back.

Don't Look Back was one of my most anticipated of 2014 for multiple reasons, psychological thrillers are my type of book. I just love everything about them and of course, Don't Look Back delivered, and let's be honest,  Jennifer L Armentrout never disappoints.

The first thing I thought when finding out Fracture had a sequel: Why? The second: I can't spell Vengeance.

I liked Fracture, it was angsty and perfect and I'm a sucker for the best friends/relationship, but I didn't think it needed anything else. It was done.

Being from Decker's perspective changed a lot of what I originally thought, and I was interested in seeing where it would carry on, and since I loved him in Fracture, nothing could go wrong, right?

Nope.

Wrong.

I think I'm going to regret this. No, I know I'm going to regret this, but does anybody else like to scare themselves? Seriously though, remember the episode of Supernatural on she-who-shall-not-be-named? Scarred me for life. I didn't look into a mirror for days. That was a bad hair week.

2) It was pitched as Supernatural meets The Da Vinci Code.

What wasn't there to like?

A. Lot.
