Stacking the Shelves (#15) & Recap

STSmallStacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

How's everybody's week been? My reading week has been pretty good.
Book wise, just one for review and bought some this week (and I was doing so good with the no buying until you read what you got.) but I caved because I need to know what I'm missing out on one of the series'.

Review: Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer

Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer
Author:

Publication Date: September 24th 2013
Publisher: Scholastic Press

Colette Iselin is excited to go to Paris on a class trip. She’ll get to soak up the beauty and culture, and maybe even learn something about her family’s French roots.

But a series of gruesome murders are taking place across the city, putting everyone on edge. And as she tours museums and palaces, Colette keeps seeing a strange vision: a pale woman in a ball gown and powdered wig, who looks suspiciously like Marie Antoinette.

Colette knows her popular, status-obsessed friends won’t believe her, so she seeks out the help of a charming French boy. Together, they uncover a shocking secret involving a dark, hidden history. When Colette realizes she herself may hold the key to the mystery, her own life is suddenly in danger . . .

With her French class on their way to France, Colette Iselin knows somehow that this trip will change her. After going from being secure to a small cramped apartment and shopping for clothes in thrift stores, she just wants to go away and forget about all of that, with her friends by her side. What she didn't bargain was getting tangled within a gruesome string of murders of prestigious kids with rich blood, with more than their decapitated heads in common.
And Colette being next on the list.

Right, now I wouldn't call this paranormal. I mean, it is. But apart from the quick flashes of ghosts, and gruesome murders by said ghost...

Feature & Follow (#4)

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly bloghop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This weeks Question:
"What are some of your favorite magazines?"

Since magazines aren't exactly cheap for it's worth anymore (especially the gossip ones, which you can find online anyway.) I don't really buy any. But I used to when I was in school, walking home afterschool, our shop block was five minutes away, so I'd used to go into the paper shop on a Friday and buy one.

Weird mix right? And yes, I used to hang out in the Mosher corner. I do miss my black hair.

Waiting on Wednesday (#15)

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases.

Death hasn’t visited Rowan Rose since it took her mother when Rowan was only a little girl. But that changes one bleak morning, when five horses and their riders thunder into her village and through the forest, disappearing into the hills. Days later, the riders’ bodies are found, and though no one can say for certain what happened in their final hours, their remains prove that whatever it was must have been brutal.

Rowan’s village was once a tranquil place, but now things have changed. Something has followed the path those riders made and has come down from the hills, through the forest, and into the village. Beast or man, it has brought death to Rowan’s door once again.

Only this time, its appetite is insatiable.

Creepy, with an extra dose of creepy cover.

What are you waiting on this week? :)

Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.

As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

Review: Countdown

Countdown
Author:

Publication Date: October 1st 2013 by
Publisher: Harlequin Teen

3 seconds left to live. Once the countdown starts, it cannot be stopped.

2 pawns thrown into a brutal underground reality game.

Kira Jordan survived her family's murder and months on plague-devastated city streets with hard-won savvy and a low-level psi ability. She figures she can handle anything. Until she wakes up in a barren room, chained next to the notorious Rogan Ellis.

1 reason Kira will never, ever trust Rogan. Even though both their lives depend on it.

Their every move is controlled and televised for a vicious exclusive audience. And as Kira's psi skill unexpectedly grows and Rogan's secrets prove evermore deadly, Kira's only chance of survival is to risk trusting him as much as her instincts. Even if that means running head-on into the one trap she can't escape.

                                                                                          GAME OVER

Kira Jordan, a thief and orphan, her family being murdered years before, is unwillingly thrown into the game of Countdown and being an orphan in a game like Countdown is dangerous, because it means no one will miss you, and that's why Kira was chosen. Waking up in the dark she finds she is not alone, and that she's also chained. Rogan Ellis, a convicted murderer in Juvie awaiting to be transported to Saradone upon his 18th birthday has nothing to lose, and that's why he was willing and chosen.
Not knowing whether to trust him, or what the hell is going on, Kira's reluctant to help free him from the chains.

Until the Countdown begins.
And now they have to work together to survive.
