It’s been twenty three days since Quinn has slept for more than minutes at a time. Demons have invaded her dreams, stalking her, and whispering of her death. The lack of sleep and crippling fear are ruining her life. Energy drinks and caffeine pills don’t make a dent. When Quinn dozes off in the school hallway, Aaron, an amnesiac with a psychic ability, accidentally enters her nightmare. The demons are determined to keep them apart, and Aaron from discovering the secret locked away in his memory. Together, they could banish the darkness back to the underworld for good. That is, unless the demons kill them first.

 Review:
Eighteen months ago, the day her father walked out and never came home, Quinn Taylor started having nightmares of dark entities reaching out for her. Thinking it was her subconscious giving her a way to deal with his absence she doesn’t think much of it. Until the nightmares get worse and worse, from harmless nightmares to dark, vivid and dangerous Quinn hasn’t had a full night’s sleep for twenty-three days. Trying everything she can to stay awake, blasting music that’s way past healthy for your eardrums, red bull, caffeine pills and even physically hurting herself to keep awake, but eventually she falls asleep, and the nightmares begin as soon as she closes her eyes, first the oncoming cold, tendrils of fog choking her and dragging her dream self tunnelling through the dark void until she smacks into the hard, cold ground of a forest floors where the darkness lay.

Empty Roads & Broken Bottles; in search for The Great Perhaps Review

Empty Roads & Broken Bottles; in search for The Great Perhaps
Author: Charlotte Eriksson (AKA The Glass Child.)
Publication Date: April 22nd 2013
Published; The book is self-published through Charlotte’s record label “Broken Glass Records".

The story of The Glass Child, Charlotte Eriksson, is one of those you usually see on movies. Only 18 years old she left everything she had and knew in Gothenburg, Sweden, and moved to London to dedicate her whole life to her music and art. A vague dream about reaching out turned out to be an extraordinary fight for true and real art. A journey about self-discovery, learning solitude, the difference between having a home and feeling at home and how she finally found a home in herself, in her music, in her words. Charlotte spent a year homeless on the road, sleeping at friends’ and fans’ floors, learning and searching. An ordinary girl created a community of over 22,000 dedicated fans online, and all alone with nothing but hard work and determination she managed to build a life on her art, being a true inspiration to so many people, showing that you can achieve and become exactly who you want to be, if you just want it bad enough. ”I wanted to turn my life into art. My very existence into a poem. This is my story - it’s been a beautiful fight. It still is.”

Review:

I first read bought and read this book back in April, and this was the first review I'd written;

I've spent the last few hours trying to string words together to make up some sort of way to tell you, show you, how to explain how proud I am of Charlotte, and this book, her journey. I stayed up last night to finish reading because I couldn’t put it down, and even now I still don’t know what to say or to feel and for once that’s a good thing.

It's hard to say anything about someone who made you believe in something again but it was a privilege to see the world through her eyes for those few hours. But don't just take it from me, read this and see for yourself and read the beginning of something beautiful.

After reading again, I still have no words to say what a life, a story, that Charlotte leads, and after she recently up and left to start a new journey in Berlin, I can honestly say she is an inspiration to every person that has ever dreamed and I am grateful to be apart of the community she has created. Also, to call this person a friend.

"I want my life to be the greatest story.
My very existence will be the greatest poem.
Watch me burn."

Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the guy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly seductive Morpheus and the vindictive Queen Red. Now all she has to do is graduate high school and make it through prom so she can attend the prestigious art school in London she's always dreamed of.
That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting overly protective and suspicious. And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn’t show up for school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest in the dark, challenging Wonderland—where she (partly) belongs.

As prom and graduation creep closer, Alyssa juggles Morpheus’s unsettling presence in her real world with trying to tell Jeb the truth about a past he’s forgotten. Glimpses of Wonderland start to bleed through her art and into her world in very disturbing ways, and Morpheus warns that Queen Red won’t be far behind.

If Alyssa stays in the human realm, she could endanger Jeb, her parents, and everyone she loves. But if she steps through the rabbit hole again, she'll face a deadly battle that could cost more than just her head.

The new guy at Tracy's school is handsome, intense, and desperately needs her help--but there's something about him that isn't quite right

High school junior Tracy Lloyd is unsure about the new guy in school. Brad Johnson is attractive, smart, and polite, but Tracy can't help but feel he watches her too closely. Then one day Brad confides in Tracy a horrible secret: His little sister Mindy has been kidnapped by his stepfather, and he needs Tracy's help to get her back. But even as Tracy commits to a plan to help her vulnerable new friend, details emerge that suggest nothing is what it seems.

Review;

Last summer Tracy Lloyd’s mother died which forced her to move to Winfield to live with her aunt and uncle. Tracy’s distant, she doesn’t get attached, and she’s blasé to guys who might approach her. She has no interests in having friends either, except for the usual hot-blonde-long-legged best friend, Gina who she keeps at arm’s length but shares a locker with. Instantly were introduced to New Blood, Brad Johnson, who Gina pegs as “Mr. Gorgeous” with his curly hair and a “face that launched a thousand ships.”

The Academy: Game On Review

The Academy: Game On (The Academy #1)
Author: Monica Seles and James LaRosa
Publication Date: June 6, 2013
Source: Bloomsbury UK

The Academy is the hottest international sports school for teen athletes. There are only two ways in: money – and lots of it – or enough talent to earn a scholarship.

Young tennis star Maya’s dreams have finally come true! She’s got the scholarship. She’s got the drive. She’s on her way from small town to pro career . . . But when Maya starts boarding at the sports training school, her fantasy of the Academy doesn’t quite match the reality – because where there are beautiful, talented teens, there’s plenty of drama.

Review:

So...this isn't my usual read, and because of it I wouldn't necessarily have bought The Academy: Game On, which is a shame, but I received a copy from Bloomsbury

It was a quick, light read that I started in-between books and honestly even though I wasn't in love with this book, it was hard to put down. Alright, it was really cheesy in some places, mainly with Travis, but I could deal with that.

Onto the characters, we have;
