Booking Through Thursday: Multi-Tasking.

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme, hosted by btt2, about (mostly) books and reading.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you do other things while you read? Watch TV? Cook? Brush your teeth? Knit?
(For the record, I’m guilty of all of the above.)
Or is it a quicker question to ask when you DON’T read? (Please tell me you don’t read while you’re driving.)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do read while watching TV, unless it's NCIS: LA or Hawaii Five-0, and then you've lost me.
If it's a really good book, I don't listen to music, but if it's one I'm struggling through, then I do. It helps it move quicker. And about a ton more.

So when don't I read? When I'm out in public or on the bus because I can never concentrate enough and just read the same page about ten times before giving up.

How about you? :)

It always amazes me when people can read and eat at the same time. I know you didn't say that but I've seen many people that can and do. I would easily lose my place on the page or completely miss my mouth! I sometimes read while watching tv but like you, it depends on what shows. If it's just mindless reality tv, I can read just fine. But if it's something that requires you to pay a lot of attention, I can't.

Me, too. I can with my kindle, but an actual book, nope.
I'm glad that there are many more multi-tasking readers out there. I basically read everywhere and anywhere. I have an extra book on my bathroom shelf that I only read there (even while I brush my teeth and get ready for bed in the night). I never ever leave the house without something to read. Whenever I have to wait for a few minutes, I take out a book and read. I rarely watch any TV. My children don't know me without a book and they've started being crazy about books themselves. And when I can't read, then I listen to audiobooks, while I drive, cook, clean, go for a walk with the baby and so on. People always ask me how I manage to read so much even though I work full-time and have a family to care for. Well, that's how. ;-)

Power to you! So great that your kids are getting like that too. :)
I read a lot more throughout elementary and middle school (sometimes 3 books a day!) and I became so pro at multitasking while reading. I read at lunch, eating, watching tv, and at one point I even read while I was practicing piano!

Now I mostly just read while listening to music. Like you, I find that it sometimes helps me move through the book faster. :)

Haha, reading while practicing piano? You have skills.
Thanks for visiting my blog, Kirsty! I do multi-task while reading, like when I'm eating alone (anywhere, if I have a book) or admittedly in the bathroom!
