Inside every secret, there's a world of trouble. Get ready for the second book in this new series of global proportions--from master of intrigue, New York Times bestselling author Ally Carter.
Grace's past has come back to hunt her . . . and if she doesn't stop it, Grace isn't the only one who will get hurt. Because on Embassy Row, the countries of the world stand like dominoes, and one wrong move can make them all fall down.
The twists get twistier and the turns get even more shocking in the second thrilling installment of Embassy Row.
OHMYGOD.
THAT WAS THE MEANEST CLIFFHANGER ENDING. Continuing on from All Fall Down, See
How They Run builds up the history of Adria, and the history of the founders.
Believe it or not, See How They Run is a lot darker than its predecessor, there
are so many more secrets about Grace and Adria and more things out of Graces
control than she likes (and we know how she acts when it comes to secrets).
What I
love about Ally Carter, is the emphasis she puts on family. Never are they
standard or perfect, they're broken and dysfunctional but they're strong.
They're family, and it doesn't stop at blood. And in See How They Run we get to
meet Grace's older brother, Jamie. And she tries her damn hardest to push him
away, but he's always there pushing her back. They really feel like siblings.
WE HAVE
SOME ROMANCE, if you were disappointed by the lack of romance in All Fall Down,
you still might be, because honestly, there's no outwardly romance between
Grace and Alexei. But what I seriously adore about the way Ally Carter writes
romance is how she builds their foundation first. How she can write intimate
and sexy moments without the characters even kissing, is beyond me.
See How
They Run is fast paced, packed with shocking twists that you won't see coming
until just before it hits you, family ties, and uh, more Alexei.

I haven't read the first book, but thinking about checking it out from my library. Glad this sequel is awesome. That's not usually the case.
ReplyDeleteIt was SO much better than the first, though I loved that, too.
DeleteYou know, I'm a terrible person who judges a book by its cover, so I haven't read this book and the Gallager series because it looked too "immature," but everyone keeps talking about how dark these series are!
ReplyDeleteOff to my library I go!
Haha, I did too, don't worry. I put of GG for so long, and okay, the first three and a half are a little tweeny, but they started getting darker and this series? Ohhh, it still feels like an Ally Carter but definitely much darker.
DeleteI REALLLLLLLYYYYY need to read the first book! I've had it sitting on my shelf since it came out last year and I still haven't picked it up! After reading this, I'll have to soon!
ReplyDeleteYES. I absolutely adored All Fall Down, so I am so excited that this is a worthy sequel. :) And it makes me happy to know that there is some romance because I felt that was the one thing that was missing in All Fall Down. ;) Thanks for sharing Kirsty and, as always, fabulous review! ♥
ReplyDeleteHa, right? I so wanted romance in All Fall Down (even though it did seem to plant some seeds) and there's not full out romance in here, but more intimate, which, hell yes. ;)
DeleteWow, that's great you loved this sequel. I've never read anything by Ally Carter but I like to hear that books feature families in some regard. It's nice!

I'm a little embarrassed to say I haven't read any Ally Carter yet...
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you enjoyed this one so much! And I like that this one has some romance ;) Awesome review, Kirsty!
CYN, GET ON THAT. ;)
