Studio Reads is turning two!
Studio Reads had turned two at the end of June but I'm only getting around to this post now, but whatever, it counts. Either way, the blog is two! Which, in blog years, is kind of old when you think about it. Two years of consistently blogging (let's forget that long Christmas hiatus.) and I've been thinking about what's changed since the last year of blogging and about my two year "experience" of blogging, and all I came up with is,
it's hard. Blogging is hard, I thought the first year would be the worst, and in a way it is, but in another way it's not, because though it has been hard to post something every week, I've also been the most active and actually getting myself out there and commenting and talking with other bloggers, and it's been
fun.
And the huge difference for me from last year to now is that while I would love to post every day, I honestly couldn't keep that up, and I'm okay with that, because I'm making more time for the fun stuff, commenting more, being on Goodreads more, just being more
sociable, which isn't the easiest for me.
And I still have to work on Twitter. I've met some genuinely awesome people who are just genuinely awesome people, and I hate naming names because I know I'm going to leave someone out, but most of them are in my
I Like These People page anyway. They've made me read books that I wouldn't usually read, (and a certain one that I would love to wipe from my brain because it left me with scars, just saying. But also awesome ones like Throne of Glass, and for that, everyone, I THANK THE HELL OUT OF YOU.) genre's that before blogging, I never went near, and who've made me obsess over certain TV shows with kickass heroines and one with a guy with a hook that should never stop wearing guyliner, ever. (Come on, I had to mention Once Upon a Time at some point.)
So basically? It's been an awesome year. And with that I leave you with a giveaway and I'll be back in two weeks! Unless you're on goodreads, like I'm going to stay away from that.
Congrats on 2 years - that's amazing! Thanks for the giveaway, I'd pick Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard if I won :)
ReplyDeleteI'd probably choose Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on two years! That's awesome you've been blogging for that long already. :) And I have no idea what book I'd choose - I don't know prices and whatnot. I do really want to read More Happy Than No though, just so I'm saying SOMETHING. lol

Thank you! :D Heard good things about that one!
DeleteWhoo congratulations on the two years, Kirsty! I'm so glad you had fun this year and made time to do other things than simply schedule posts. Either way, you have posts up nearly everyday and it's awesome to see how dedicated you are to your blog. Here's to an awesome third year of blogging!
ReplyDeleteAwh, thank you my friend! :D
DeleteHAPPY BLOGOVERSEY!!! Call me crazy but I thought the second year was the most difficult. You think you've got the hang of things, then you realize that you don't. At least that was my life. Haha.
ReplyDeleteBUT YOU MADE IT! And hiatuses are good. They give you time to come up with new ideas (or just live stress free)!
Awesome giveaway lady, it's been fun swapping reviews with you! <3
Thank you! Right? I've spent more time this year than last year, it is fun though, and wouldn't change it, but it does take work, haha. It was a nice to just have a break and read just to read, I think I only wrote like three reviews in three weeks, I just read, read, read what I wanted to read and not go by a schedule. :D
DeleteCongratulations!!!! Two years is awesome!! Here's to another year :D
ReplyDeleteLaura @BlueEyeBooks
Big congratulations on this new milestone!! More blogging years to come. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd pick Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
HOOK!!!!!!!! Can't blame you for mentioning him in because <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 2 years!
Haha, obviously had to mention him. ;) Thank you! :)
DeleteWow, congrats on 2 years of blogging! Such an amazing achievement xD
ReplyDeleteHappy two! And enjoy your holiday :))
ReplyDelete(There's so many books I want, haha)
Congrats on your two years :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm on Goodreads too - I have to be careful not to spend so much time there as I add far too many TBR suggestions!
Happy blogoversary! I'd love to win Cress by Marissa Meyer!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary! :))
ReplyDeleteI would choose Queen of Shadows! Thank you for the chance! :)
That's amazing! 2 years...wow. That's a great accomplishment :) Which book? Hmm... That's tough. Before We Were Strangers, Becoming Rain, Black Iris or My Heart and Other Black Holes (my wish-list doesn't let me pick one lol)
ReplyDeleteI forgot that we've been blogging pretty much the same amount of time - my two year blogoversary would have been in June as well! (In which Elizabeth learns the maths and realizes she has not in fact been blogging 3 years. I swear I barely even remember life before blogging, it feels like it's been forever!)
ReplyDeleteSo...I guess we haven't known each other as long as it feels like we have then too! You've done a fair amount of influencing on me too - I definitely never would have seen Haven if not for you, and I can't remember if you started me on Warehouse 13, but even if I started it before, I definitely wouldn't have gotten into finishing it (well...ok...I still have 3 episodes left. I am the WORST at finishing things!!)! Plus you're the one person I have to geek out about Sleepy Hollow with so thank GOD for that! (I'm finally caught up on that, I don't know if I told you...I'm still like...very, very behind in OUaT - are you up to date on it? I know you had a delay on the showing over there).
Also, you reading Unwind is probably one of my proudest moments as a blogger <3. (Also thank god you did, because that is NOT a book that's easy to experience alone!)
I am so behind on comments, so I didn't see this until now! But aha, it's easy to do that though, especially since we started posting in 2013. ;) Ha, right? I can't remember what I used to do with my spare time,
DeleteYou were one of the first people I started talking to, haha, and because I'm so awkward, I found it easier talking to other people then too, so thank you! ;) Life without Haven is going to be bad, I WANT MORE. THEY CANCEL ALL THE GOOD SHOWS. >:( Poor Warehouse (again, see, 5 seasons. It's a dreaded curse on Syfy.)
I am actually looking forward to the Bones crossover now, it could be good. IT COULD. But still one I'm just "Uh, what?" why would you cross those genres?
The last episode of OUaT I watched was the double episode, can't remember what number that was. We don't have it over here anymore. :( Channel 5 dropped it after season 2 and another one didn't pick it up, but I'm watching it on my laptop, so need to catch up,
:D That was just very, very mean (AND NO WARNING!) but yeah, definitely one you should have anybody to talk to about because SCARS.) I am not ready for the rest of the series, at all. So I think I'm going to leave it until Christmas, you know, happier times. ;)
Congrats on the blogoversary!! I hope this year is just as great :)
