Set in the months before Half Bad, Half Lies takes the form of a diary written by Michele, the sister of Gabriel, Nathan’s Black witch friend. Having fled Europe for Florida, Michele falls in love with a local White witch boy. There, she finds that the divide between the Black and White witch communities is just as dangerous as it was in the life she's left behind.
HALF WILD, the sequel to HALF BAD will be published in March 2015. You can pre-order your copy now here! and read the first chapter here.
I don't usually read any novella's, mainly I only read the
ones from my favourite series, and I can count on one hand how many I have,
Half Lies being one of them. As you can gather, I loved Half Bad, and Gabriel
was one of my favourite characters, so it was nice to be able to get to see
more of him before he became the Gabriel in Half Bad, and since this was
focusing on his sister, Michele, and getting to know her through the diary
entries, and seeing how her end came to be.
Michele's voice was very clear, and given it is diary
entries you expect that, so glad it was and the little back and forth between
Gabriel reading the diary and leaving messages in there for her, it just added
that touch of closeness between them, you could see and feel it, which is why
it was so sad towards the end to the inevitable.
I would've liked a bit more development in the characters,
especially Michele and Sam, because I didn't feel or see the connection between
them, and that's probably because it is a novella and not a novel, so I get why
it wasn't as fleshed out, but still, it was a quick and fast read that gives
you more of an insight to the prejudice between the black and white Witches and
the half bloods.

SALLY GREEN lives in north-west England with her husband and son. She has had various jobs and even a profession but in 2010 she discovered a love of writing and now just can’t stop. She used to keep chickens, makes decent jam, doesn’t mind ironing, loves to walk in Wales even when it’s raining, and will probably never jog again. She really ought to drink less coffee. HALF BAD is her first novel.
