StudioReads is over a year old! I was looking at my blogoversary button the other day (which I've now taken down and have to redo) and was thinking it's been an awfully long year, so I went and checked my first ever post. Which went live on the 24/06/2013. So really, I've been blogging for a year and 1/3!
I'm quite proud of myself that I've stuck to something this long, I've tried sewing, that lasted a few months. I tired knitting and started off with a square of a blanket that...turned into a triangle. Magic! Honestly, it was square when I finished it...
I'm a reader, I've always been a reader (like most of us), and I've been stalking Goodreads since 2009 like the good little book stalker I am, but blogging? I never thought I'd do it. It was scary.
Until I did.
I've been surprised with it too, it's had its up and downs but far more ups, and it's given me a lot. I've ventured more out of my comfort zone, I was a strictly Paranormal/Supernatural/Crime reader with a few Dystopian's thrown in every now and then, I rarely read any Contemporary. Now, I've read more Contemporary this year than I have in the last five. It's also forcing me to read and finish books, I still DNF when I need to, but I used to be the type of reader that if I wasn't interested within the first 10-30 pages I'd give up on it and move onto the next one without really giving it a try. I've ended up loving books that I would've given up on before. It's also given me an out-let to talk about books, and I didn't know how important that would end up being for me, my friends don't read a lot so we don't really talk about books, so it's been fun to be around people who just get it. That's the two main gains I've gotten from this.
It's had it's ups and downs but I'm having too much fun to not blog right now. :)
