Waiting on Wednesday (#58)

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases.

Expected publication: September 9th 2014 by HarperTeen

Dive into a world of enchantment and romance in this lush fantasy, which Stephanie Perkins, international bestselling author of Anna and the French Kiss, called "an absolute delight—a magical, sparkling, dangerous world with witty repartee and a romance that will light your heart on fire." Fans of Libba Bray and Cassandra Clare will fall in love with this captivating stand-alone novel from Kiersten White, New York Times bestselling author of the Paranormalcy trilogy.

Jessamin has been an outcast since she moved from her island home of Melei to the dreary country of Albion. Everything changes when she meets the gorgeous, enigmatic Finn, who introduces her to the secret world of Albion's nobility, a world that has everything Jessamin doesn't—power, money, status . . . and magic. But Finn has secrets of his own, and the vicious Lord Downpike will do anything to possess them. Unless Jessamin, armed only with her wits, can stop him

I've seen this one on EW but was apprehensive in downloading it because of the blurb that says "Downtown Abbey meets Cassandra Clare." I don't hate Cassandra Clare but it's just that I've gotten tired of her books after following her for almost three years now. And her series endings have disappointed me so that blurb really discouraged me. I know that it is unfair to be having an opinion about a book just because of a blurb but I think that marketers are also unfair for using Cassandra Clare to market this book because it should be recognized for what is and not some sort of fanfic of Dowtown Abbey and TMI. (Wow what a long sentence)

Okay, I am sorry for the rant. But I seriously hope that this one is better than the two books it has been pitched from.

I haven't read a book by Kiersten White since her Paranormalcy books...wonder if I'd like her books any better now? I've heard a lot of good things about this one, anyway. :)

I love the cover and it sounds pretty good, but I wasn't that impressed with her Paranormalcy series so I won't be reading this one. I'm glad you loved it though!
Thanks for stopping by :)
