------------------------------------------------------------------------

A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.

We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.

So, I've been wanting to read We Were Liars for ages, but waited. The first time I read it was with the #liarsliveread on twitter, and reactions really are everything. And emotions are everything, and those hours were well spent. We had to post our reactions to certain pages.

We Were Liars is one of those books that everybody has to read, even people who aren't book friendly. It's just one of those, that is mysterious, that looks mysterious, that sounds mysterious, that is mysterious. It'll be one you're curious about, that you'll look at be curious about. When you look at the back, you'll be curious about it. It'll suck you in before you even know what it's about, it'll have you and won't let you go. You won't be sorry. Also, you will be sorry.
It's one of those that once you've read it, you love it. Also, you won't love it. It's one that once read, you will rave and rave about it .Also, you might not rave because you kind of want to keep it for yourself. It's one  that you want to talk about. Also, you can't talk about it. It's one that you'll try to write a review for and it'll end up like this. Because there are no words. There really isn't. To say how amazing and simple this really is. It's not long.  But it's a journey. It's about a family that isn't a family.
It's not a love story. Also, it is a love story.
It's about freedom and growth and discovery and trying to be something other than what's expected of you. It's not easy. It's hard. And it takes a while, but you'll get there. It's just so much more than what it is and all of this probably doesn't make much sense, because it's true, it's one you have to read to understand it. And then you will. Understand it.
With that, I'm going to keep this short because there are not enough words, until you've read it. So, read all the reactions and reviews that literally can't tell you much because then you'll want to know. And our Liars deserve you to know.

I am now kicking myself for not picking this up the other day. I seriously had it in my hands but ended up walking out without it. Shame on me!

I was anxious to read it after all the praise, since I didn't want to not like it, then found out about the read-along and thought might as well, it was fun. And it was fun to see the reactions too, haha. And since it is such a hard one to review, I screen-capped mine.
Well, I wasn't going to read it, but now I just need to know.

I absolutely agree! This definitely isn't for everyone, but it's a pheonominal read if you're able to connect well to the writing and the characters. So glad you enjoyed it as much as I did! That twist at the end was absolutely cruel though! :(

Thanks for sharing Kristy, and, as always, BRILLIANT review! <3

And it's a pretty quick read too, and ugh, the writing. So gorgeous. It was, you knew a twist was coming but I was just, nooooooooo. Completely in denial. It did not happen. Nope. I can't even look at the cover knowing now, haha. :)
oh, i plan to read this one. there is lots of good buzz about it!

YES! Hope you do, seriously, so. good. It's worth the feelings. :)
Haha you are just so crazy in this review. I can tell you love it. Want to keep it to yourself but totally want to talk about it. I'm sad I wasn't able to pick it up at BEA but the line was INSANELY long. I did however see the author at a bookstore event that week and got her to sign my autograph book! oh and a selfie with her.
