Teaser Tuesday (25)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Title: Panic
Author:
Release date:  4th March, 2014
Publisher:  HarperCollins
Page: 14

Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.
Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.

Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn't know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.

For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most

"So: back to the day after graduation, the opening day of Panic, the day of the Jump. Rewind back to the beach, but pause a few hours before Heather stood on the ridge, suddenly petrified, afraid to jump."
"Turn the camera slightly. We're not quite there. Almost, though."

Ugh, I'm halfway through this now, and I'm not really liking it, but since I have gotten that far, might as well finish it.

Interesting that you chose a book that is yet to be published :D

I'm starting on my March books, I usually read one of them and one that I've bought, but I seem to be reading slower that way.
I requested this book through Netgalley because I met Lauren Oliver once and she drew a birthday cake in my book because our birthdays are like three days apart... so I decided I wanted to read all of her books. Interesting that you're not into it through. I'm intrigued to read your review when you're done.

Awh, that's nice of her. I'm getting into now it's almost finished, I guess it kind of started really slow, but I mean, it's not bad. :)

I hope I didn't spoil myself by reading that piece of dialogue. I am still on the process of reading this book. What you said and the other reviews though are not exactly encouraging. Gods, Lauren might be losing her touch in weaving magical stories. What do you think?

Hopefully it didn't. It's literally after the introduction to Panic, so not too much. It was hard to pick one that wouldn't. It's my first Lauren Oliver book, but I think it's in the way it's written. Dual and third person, which I don't object to, but I think with what this ones about, it would've been more of a connection if it was in first person. It's getting better though, though I am 77% which shouldn't really have taken me that long, but oh well. Hopefully you'll enjoy it more than me. :)
Aww man, I thought this was going to be a really good read!! Sorry to hear you're not enjoying it. Does it get any better?
