Eden Anfield loves puzzles, so when mysterious new boy Ryan Westland shows up at her school she's hooked. On the face of it, he's a typical American teenager. So why doesn't he recognise pizza? And how come he hasn't heard of Hitler? What puzzles Eden the most, however, is the interest he's taking in her.

As Eden starts to fall in love with Ryan, she begins to unravel his secret. Her breakthrough comes one rainy afternoon when she stumbles across a book in Ryan's bedroom - a biography of her best friend - written over fifty years in the future. Confronting Ryan, she discovers that he is there with one unbelievably important purpose ... and she might just have destroyed his only chance of success.

"He hasn't been drinking," I said,
"I saw him with a bottle of beer."
"He hasn't taken a single sip." I pointed to the full bottle of beer, still standing in the sand.
Connor snorted. "How do you know that's the same bottle?"

Publication Date: June 25th 2013
Publisher: Harper Teen

They hear the most silent of footsteps.
They are faster than anything you've ever seen.
And They won't stop chasing you...until you are dead.

Amy is watching TV when it happens, when the world is attacked by Them. These vile creatures are rapidly devouring mankind. Most of the population is overtaken, but Amy manages to escape—and even rescue “Baby,” a toddler left behind in the chaos. Marooned in Amy’s house, the girls do everything they can to survive—and avoid Them at all costs.

After years of hiding, they are miraculously rescued and taken to New Hope, a colony of survivors living in a former government research compound. While at first the colony seems like a dream with plenty of food, safety, and shelter, New Hope slowly reveals that it is far from ideal. And Amy soon realizes that unless things change, she’ll lose Baby—and much more.

The world as you know it has ended. For Amy, she was watching television when it happened, when the world was invaded by aliens and ended her life as she knew it. Her father was assumed dead, and her mother was protected, but still unsure whether she was alive. Amy was left alone, but after a few days she stopped wallowing and stepped up. She adapted. She lived.
She survived.
Day in, day out, a day at a time but she's here, she's still alive.
She doesn't know who else is still alive, and for all she knows, she's the last human on earth.
Slowly, she starts seeing more and more survivors and meets Baby, a toddler in the supermarket and takes her under her wing.
They start living.

Look what I finally got my hands on! It took a while, since my first copy must have gotten lost in the mail, and the Book Depository had to send another one out. I haven't had a problem with any order from them before, but they were nice and sorted it really quickly.

Review: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
Author:

Publication Date: August 15th 2013
Publisher: Dial

You stop fearing the devil when you’re holding his hand…

Nothing much exciting rolls through Violet White’s sleepy, seaside town… until River West comes along. River rents the guest house behind Violet’s crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard.

Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be something more?

Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery... who makes you want to kiss back.

Violet’s already so knee-deep in love, she can’t see straight. And that’s just how River likes it.

All her life Violet White has heard stories about the Devil from her grandmother Freddie, they're rich, live on this big mansion on top of a mountain, but money goes only so far and they're not as rich as you think. Freddie's dead, Violet and her twin brother Luke, are living alone as their painter parents who care more about paint than their own flesh and blood are off in Paris after drying up most of the money that's left. Violet and Luke are running out on money and have no option but to rent the guesthouse, and in comes River, all cocky and arrogant and kind and strange and things start happening.
Troubles stirred and the Devil's just around the corner.

Well, that was...disturbing. Disturbing? Yes, I think I'll stick with that. I'll stick with that. Yes. Disturbing. Can I burn my eyes out now? Please? I had to bribe myself with white chocolate pretzels.

So today, we have a cover reveal, and it's a pretty one! I'm always sucked in by a pretty cover.

Let's see what it's about...

"

Fifteen-year-old Serena is the youngest member of a dying race. The increasing acidity of the ocean is destroying her home, slowly eating away at the once thriving underwater landscape. But since the night of Serena’s birth, it is an outside force that most threatens their dwindling population. Werewolves, who once served as protectors for mermaids in the Kingdom of the Undine, now seek to eliminate all who dwell in the ocean — and Serena is about to find herself right in the middle of the deadly conflict.

Given the title of Werewolf Liaison, Serena is determined to make things right for her people. When she ventures to The Dry, she meets Liam, the werewolf with hazel eyes, and her whole world gets turned upside down. As Serena discovers the real history between werewolves and mermaids, she is left wondering who her true enemies are.
